HIDDEN BENEFITS OF GIVING
A kind man benefits himself, but the cruel person brings trouble on himself. – Proverbs 11:17
The Bible offers 500 verses on prayer, less than 500 verses on faith, but more than 2,000 verses on money and possessions. In the Gospels, an amazing one out of ten verses (288 in all) deals directly with the subject of money. Sixteen of the thirty-eight parables of Jesus were concerned with how to handle money and possessions.
Clearly, God wants us free from the love of money and possessions. Most of us don’t struggle to understand Jesus’ teaching, but we wrestle with our flesh to obey it because of fear. When we let go of money and possessions, we fear we’re letting go of our security.
Fear is what gives the devil access into our lives and begin attacking us. We must make sure that, as Believers, everything we do is based off faith in God and in His Word.
1. GIVING ALWAYS RESULTS IN RECEIVING
“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal [measure]it shall be measured to you again.”
– Luke 6:38
2. GOD WILL BLESS WHATEVER YOU PUT YOUR HAND TO
“Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.”
– Deuteronomy 15:10
3. EVERY TIME YOU GIVE YOU’RE DECLARING SOMETHING…
1. You declare you’re blessed
“Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you.”
– Deuteronomy 16:17
2. You declare that you’re righteous
“The righteous gives and does not hold back.” – Proverbs 21:26
3. You declare that you’re obedient to the Gospel
For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. – 2 Cor 9:13
4. You declare that you love God
“For God so loved the world that he gave” – John 3:16
5. You declare that you trust God
Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment 1 Tim 6:17
4. GOD WILL INCREASE YOU SO THAT YOU CAN KEEP BEING GENEROUS
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.
– 2 Cor 9:10
5. YOU WILL RECEIVE A REWARD FOR YOUR GIVING

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior and to yield back the life given to me by You, back to You. Take Control of my life Lord, and let only your will be done in my life from now on. Amen.”
