About the Author

Reinhard Bonnke (1940–2019) was principally known for his Great Gospel Crusades throughout Africa. The son of a German pastor, Reinhard surrendered his life to Christ at age nine and heard the call to the African mission field before he was a teenager. He attended Bible college in Wales and was ordained in Germany where he and his wife, Anni, pastored a small church until 1967 when, in obedience to Reinhard’s childhood call, they embarked on missionary life in Africa in the small mountain kingdom of Lesotho. When, in 1974, the Holy Spirit spoke to Reinhard in a recurring dream about “a blood-washed Africa,” he founded Christ for All Nations, becoming the inspiring visionary who always spoke of “plundering hell to populate heaven,” a dedicated preacher who saw “signs following” as the necessary evidence of the power of the gospel to save, heal, and deliver. To date, Christ for All Nations has recorded more than eighty-two million documented decisions for Jesus Christ. Reinhard also authored numerous books, including Raised from the Dead, Daily Fire Devotional, Faith: The Link with God’s Power, and Hell Empty, Heaven Full. In addition, he spent several years developing the Full Flame Film Series, eight inspirational films aimed at inspiring and challenging the church to Holy Spirit evangelism.

• Why does God allow suffering? You could just as well ask the National Secretary of Transportation why he allows accidents on the highways. No doubt he would take exception to your accusation and point to the rules of the road. “Every time a law is broken, an accident and suffering might occur,” he would reply. People suffer chiefly for one reason—they are ignoring God’s rulebook, the Bible, and everything goes wrong. Our Creator knows exactly how He has made us and what will harm us. Consequently, out of a caring, protective heart, He says, “You shall not … ” The “you shall nots” are not edicts designed to spoil our fun, but rather they are the manufacturer’s handling instructions. God wisely knows that our psyche is unable to handle sin. Actually, it is crushed and tormented by misdeeds. It is always wise to read the instruction manual before using a new appliance. People worry about breaking a new DVD player or a new computer, but strangely, they have no worries about destroying their own spirits and souls with the poison of sin.
